This means the YubiKey's HMAC-SHA1 response doesn't match the enrolled identity. Common causes:
- Wrong slot selected: Make sure the slot in the app matches the slot where you programmed the HMAC-SHA1 secret.
- Secret was re-programmed: If you reprogrammed the YubiKey's secret after enrollment, you need to reset enrollment in the app and re-enroll.
- Different YubiKey: You're tapping a different YubiKey than the one originally enrolled.
To fix: go to Setup → Reset enrollment, then re-enroll with the correct YubiKey and slot.

The free version lets you protect up to 2 apps. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited app locks.

Troubleshooting Tips
The lock screen doesn't appear when I open a protected app
- Verify the accessibility service is enabled (Setup → Open Accessibility Settings).
- Some Android manufacturers aggressively kill background services. Check your phone's battery optimization settings and exclude Yubi AppGate.
- On some devices, you may need to allow "Display over other apps" in system settings.
YubiKey error: "Failed to select OTP applet"
- The OTP applet may be disabled on your YubiKey. Open YubiKey Manager, go to Interfaces, and ensure OTP is enabled for NFC and/or USB.
App locked itself. How do I get back in?
- Yubi AppGate protects itself once a YubiKey is enrolled. Simply tap your enrolled YubiKey to authenticate and access the app.
- If you've lost your YubiKey, you can clear the app's data via Settings → Apps → Yubi AppGate → Clear Data to reset enrollment. This will remove all protection settings.
